Religious Education Program for Children and Adults
Registration is now open for Religious Education beginning in Fall 2024.
For students entering K-8th grades our Faith Formation Program will begin Sept 15th. Class time is from 9:05-10:15am gathering in the Knox Room, located downstairs, to start. Students are then dismissed to their individual class rooms by grade levels. Our curriculum for 2024-25 (for non sacramental prep) is Gospel Weeklies, by Pflaum. It focuses on the Gospel reading from Mass for that weekend. In a beautiful way it connects our Catechism of the Catholic Church to the Gospel, and how to incorporate it into our everyday faith lives. It’s a wonderful tool for our children to learn the richness of our Catholic faith. |
Sacramental Ages
Our 2nd grade students will be preparing for First Reconciliation and First Holy Communion by continuing to build upon what they have learned the previous year. Their curriculum is part book and video created by Ascension Press titled, “Renewed & Received.” Our 7th & 8th grade students are a combined classroom, and we celebrate Confirmation every other year. 2024-25 is a preparation year for Confirmation. If you have a returning 8th grader who received the sacrament April 2024, then this is year 2 of preparation for them. If you have a 7th grader this is year 1 of preparation, and their sacrament will be in our 2025-26 school year. If you have a child who is out of the typical Sacramental sequence please email Rachel at faithformation@newmanniu.org and we can help facilitate their preparation. |
For the ADULTS:
We are once again offering ADULT FORMATION to be held in the Knox Room during the same time as the children's classes. Newman’s FOCUS missionaries will lead us through a bible study each semester. This invitation is open to everyone! You do not have to have a child enrolled in Faith Formation to attend. And no pre-registration is needed. Lap babies and toddlers are welcome. P.S. We have coffee & hot tea! |
