RHMT, or The Newman Missionary Team, this year is comprised of 4 individuals who have vowed to spend the next year as an evangelist, guide, and friend of the college students at NIU.  The amazing men and women have put their faith in God to help lead them to change others and bring them closer to Christ.

Interested families and parishioners who want to help RHMT can do so through financial support, food donations, and prayer.

If you are interested and want to make a difference, please go through the Give Central link.

Also, look below to see the list of our current missionaries, get to know who they are and decide who you would like to help fund!  Each missionary has to fundraise a certain amount of money to help offset the cost of their living expenses, so please help them and let them know that they are trully making a difference!

Hello Everyone! My name is Grace Filipski and I am so thankful for the opportunity to be a RHMT Missionary this year! I graduated from St. Ambrose University in 2016 majoring in Theology and Psychology. I loved being a part of campus ministry there and partaking in young adult groups after graduation. I am all about Hallmark movies, reading a good book, singing & dancing for fun, going for a walk, eating food, attending Mass, chatting life, playing sports, and talking about the saints-I LOVE Saint Therese! God is so good as to bring this team together to do outreach to students and walk together in the journey of life & faith! I can’t wait to see what the Lord has in store for this year, all the wonderful people we will meet, and all the beautiful things we will learn from each other. “Miss no single opportunity of making some small sacrifice, here by a smiling look, there by a kindly word; always doing the smallest right and doing it all for love.” God is AMAZING. God is LOVE.

Hello everyone! My name is Mercylynn Mbuguah. I am from Kenya. I went to Northwestern University and studied Human Communication and Pre-Medical Sciences. I am excited to be a joyful presence on the NIU Campus as we meet and work with students and staff. Jesus said that He “came so that they might have life and have it more abundantly.” Jn 10:10. Each person we encounter is a Beloved Child of God and God desires a relationship with each one. He knows their pain, joys, worries and frustrations and wants to walk with them in everything. We are called to be our authentic selves as we share with the world that Christ is the reason for our Joy.

Hello there! My name is Mary Sutarik and this is my first year on the Roman Huskie Missionary team! I grew up in Aurora, IL but have spent the last few years in Dubuque, IA at the one and only Loras College (go DUhawks!!!). I truly believe that a life with Christ is a joyful adventure and am excited to lead students closer to his merciful heart during this school year 😊 In my free time, I love cooking, reading, going to concerts, spending time with family, and eating guacamole and peanut butter.

Hi! My name is Anna Roche and I’m from North Aurora, IL! Prior to being a missionary, I attended beauty school but realized that God wasn’t calling me to continue on. Hence, I became a beauty-school dropout turned missionary 😊. Post beauty school, I attended many events at Newman and strengthed my faith through community, mass and prayer. In my free time, I enjoy drinking a delicious cup of tea, praying and holding babies. Life is pretty great and I’m extremely excited to serve on the Roman Huskie Missionary team this year. God bless!
