Please know that it is normal to have questions and doubts, and we hope that you will feel comfortable sharing these either with the group or privately with any one of us on the Adult Confirmation team. You can be sure that if there’s something you don’t understand or are wondering about, you are not alone!   

The community of Christ the Teacher parish is thankful for your presence among us. You bear witness to our own faith journeys, and we are walking with you. 

Here are some important items of information: 

Sponsors: Your sponsor must be a confirmed Catholic over the age of 16, and someone willing to walk the journey of faith with you.  Please let someone on the Team know as soon as possible if you do not have a sponsor so we can introduce you to a volunteer sponsor from our parish community.  

Documents: We will need a copy of your baptism certificate by Wednesday, March 12th. Please write or call the church at which you were baptized and ask them to send you  your certificate. They’re used to these requests in the months before Easter. 

Books and Materials: We will provide you with This is Our Faith (an abridged version of the Catechism of the Catholic Church), and several Catholic Updates. There is a $15 charge for these materials (the only fee that will be asked of you during the Confirmation process.  

Meetings: We’ll meet every Wednesday until Easter, except during NIU’s spring break, from 7:30 – 9 p.m, and we will attend Mass at 9 p.m. as a group. (Mass is usually out at 9:30). Your sponsors are always welcome so that they can be a full mentoring presence to you in this journey.  

You’ll also need to be available on one Saturday and two Sundays: 

Sunday March 16th (Palm Sunday), for 12 noon Mass and 1 p.m. Reconciliation
             Service
Saturday March 22nd (Holy Saturday) for:
             Reflection, Rehearsal and Lunch (9 a.m. to 1 p.m.)
             Pictures, Easter Vigil Mass, and Reception (6:30 p.m. – 10:30 p.m.)
Sunday March 30th 10:15 Mass; receive certificates after Mass.
